Webmaster and Web Design 20 years
Ever since the Internet transformed from all text to a graphic user interface, I have been fascinated by how to control it. I started out by teaching myself how to write straight HTML using the website HTML Goodies. That was the beginning, and I was hooked. After teaching myself how to make webpages, that grew into web sites, I decided to offer HTML as a course for my 9th graders. Teaching it over and over again cemented the basic HTML code into my brain, and once it was rote, I became bored and looked for a challenge.
I was quickly identified as someone who might be willing to do our school website which consisted of at least 8-10 departments, admin, faculty, clubs, and sports. For this task we used FrontPage which was good in its day. I quickly moved on to Dreamweaver and have stuck with that for the last 10 – 12 years. I have since created and maintained 3 large educational websites.
I quickly moved into building websites for small businesses. The power of the Internet grabbed my attention early on, and I knew I could help small business owners to create an online presence. In the beginning my sites were simple with symmetry and straight lines and tables. Eventually, I learned CSS to really make my sites attractive, but attractive isn’t enough. Google and Bing Analytics are now available for business owners to analyze the data surrounding visitors to their site. There is a lot of power in data if only people knew where to look for it. I can help with all of these things.
